Legalize or not?

Usually I would put up a poem or something but someone asked me this question yesterday and I believe it was worthy of a response.

I am taking out time to blog on a question that was asked of me yesterday. I did not have time to fully convey or correlate my thoughts in an acceptable manner but know I will try to explain my opinion. The question I received yesterday was the question, “Should prostitution be made legal”? I am not afraid that this questions has been prompted because I know what type of society we live in; a capitalistic one. Therefore the premise that someone would use a talent or ability unworthily for capital gain is not that unusual. (Definition of prostitution dictionary.com) However, I will be saddened if this ever becomes true. The act of prostitution as defined by dictionary.com is, “the act or practice of engaging in sexual intercourse for money. But why would someone put a price tag on something that is priceless. The right for a person to engage in what can be labeled the most physical intimate act known to mankind is priceless. The fact is the act of sex is not what I believe people are so in search for when they act on their lustful behaviors with individuals for monetary purposes. I think that orgasm or sexual satisfaction is what the individual is after. Now we happen to live in an immediate gratification type of society. The type of society that has the ideology of I want it know. If I can’t buy it, I’ll charge it. Even if this charge means that I’ll pay twice or three times the price in the long wrong. But less my blog go to long, let me digress and tell you why I don’t like the idea. I don’t like the idea of putting a price tag on someone’s ability to mate. Human beings are not to be toyed with like stock and cattle or exploited for their abilities. Another ideology is that prostitution is primarily geared towards women and I don’t like anything that will perpetuate making a woman a second class citizen. Sex is often the result of two individuals who have had an intimate emotional connection; if not have been married. Even though not true in all cases something still states that they are closer to each other than the average acquaintance. To forgo this connection and just treat this act as any other act of commerce is in my opinion is devious. In my opinion sex is something shared between two individuals who have made a commitment to be each other’s one and only; my body is your body, your life my life, so on and on, etc. Not too much with the sappiness I know. I just don’t like the idea of it being regulated like a business. It just takes the organic true meaning away from it. This for me since I am a Christian is defined in the Bible. Also I don’t think it can truly be regulated safely, what happens if you make a mistake at the local fast food diner. Nothing catastrophic to your everyday life; you’ll live on. What happens if you make a mistake in prostitution? The crazy thing is someone knows the answer to this……
