How could you have chosen that

? How can you have chosen him over me I could have been the sun that brightens your sky I could have been the air you breathe I would have been much healthier to you I would have been the water and he’s you thirst He is the poison that makes your heart hurt And every moment you spend with him You pump his venom through your system You don’t even yearn for healing You just want the pain to stop That’s like never putting out the fire Just hoping not to feel the burning That’s like longing not to be wet standing in the rain Or wishing someone would love you But picking someone over me again and again I could have cherished everything about you Leaving imprints of my love on your heart Like footprints in the sand What more would it take How much more could you withstand How can you ignore the sweet aroma of romance How can you not let our love stand the test of time The duration of time I would love you All the way to heaven’s doors From there you’re the Lord’s This is a poem from my book “Heart … Who Goes There?” This book is a book with a collection of poems about the different thoughts and stages of love. I believe poetic speech can allow one to express themself artistically though words. This poem is titled “?”. The “?” of course refers to questions. It is very easy to view this poem from only a humanistic view and thus relate to it on a basic level. But life is often more complex than we think so let’s take a closer look at it. Think about it. Who hasn’t been in the position that the author implies in this poem. When you see someone you love infatuated with someone who doesn’t care about them it bothers you. But I dare you to look at this poem as if Christ wrote it to you. Now how does it make you feel? What emotions are going through your mind? Are you starting to grasp the idea that I am trying to present to you? God commands us to love him with all our mind, heart, and soul…”-Luke 10:27. God is your first love. Loving him is only right because he first loved you. He loved you so much that he gave his only son to die for your sins so that you may have a right to eternal salvation.-John 3:16. But how often do we consider ourselves not loved because we don’t have that significant other in our lives by the time we planned on it. We all have the need for human companionship but let us first fall back in love with him who has always loved us. How much more would love mean to us if we learned to love each other as God loved us. How much more about love would you understand if you understood how God loves us? Seek to learn what love is before looking for it. You might just have the best love and not take it for granite.
