A notion or a thought illuminated in my mind. This thought is rather simplistic in nature but can have a drastic effect on the effectiveness on the plight of the African student. It is my premise that the reason why more African students are not help is because we our hypothesis is all wrong about why the student is not succeeding. Indeed we receive information stating that the African student is not succeeding in the classroom at the same rate of his Caucasian counterpart and we think that there is something wrong with the African student. However this is the same backwards thinking that led to believing that the African race could not read, write, or have intellectual thought and should have stayed a slave.
The fact of the matter is that the African; male in particular problem with learning is not a racial problem but a social problem. A social problem that is indeed limited to the individuals that suffers from the problem. It is not their skin that generate the problem but rather the state that some Africans in that make them more susceptible to this issue. It is well know that there is a higher occurrence of sickle cell in the black race but that does not equate to the fact that every black will have sickle cell. There is a high occurrence of diabetes as well but this does not allow for all blacks to have problems with blood sugar. Correlation does not equal fact and that is probably the problem we are facing with effectively helping our young African youth. I believe if we prepare the African student as we prepare all students that are successful then in turn the African student will succeed to. I believe and will continue to believe that this is a battle of atmosphere. No one is born a killer, drug dealer, priest, teacher, or doctor but it is a person’s atmosphere along with personal choices that influence whether a person will or will not make a positive or negative impact on their lives and those around them.
I would love to stay that it is ultimately the choice of an individual whether he or she succeeds. But good intentions without the resources or guidance to help them succeed render those intentions almost useless. Also, I think that it is very difficult to curb someone’s training that they have been receiving for almost twenty years. As the Bible states, “train up a child in the correct manner and when they are old they will not depart from it”. Then this must also be true of its counterpart in training a child improperly. I do not say this to discourage or take away hope. I just believe that if we are to truly affect their lives then we have to reprogram their thinking instead of just holding a carrot in from of them like a donkey. We must treat them as if we are training the next leaders of America. We must be more aggressive in our message without diluting it to a sales pitch. I think we are cutting at the problem but we are not digging to the core. How can we expect the world to see them as future leaders of America and successful students when we ourselves target them like a lost generation? I think that they can feel that they are labeled lost, and that also plays into the way that they act.

Today....
Indeed today is a journey that will consist of new challenges, hardships, rewards, and achievements. One things is for sure is that today is not yesterday nor the day before that. America is going through grave changes to it seems. I am unaware if these adverse changes are indeed negative or growing pains. At some point the debt situation has to be adhered to. At some point we have to deal with our advancing moral decay. At some point we have to create a healthy environment for our children and our children's children to exist in. If not yours and my name will cease to exist. I know one thing is certain are that we need to make some headway on solving our problems instead of just detouring them. There's going to have to be some serious thoughtful decisions made on you and my behalf. If we don’t choose today who we are going to serve, how we are going to act, spend, and treat others today then we will no better be fit to handle it tomorrow. The time is now, create your legacy today.

What are We Coming To?
Some prisons are barless
Some screams way more silent
Smart minds go mindless
As peace gets labeled violent
I fear it's timeless
Enemies all around us
Friends all inside us
Dreams are awaken
Reality is what's sleeping
Freedom is what's taken
Forget that which is mistaken
Break that which is already breaking
Fix what's already working
So people stay broken
As if there problems never heard of
Perils of the case
Whether false or fake
Still made ratings on tv seem so great
So justice is now a show
For which many show up late
The worm goes to the early
The bird goes to the sky
Lift your prayers on High
That's the only way to fly

Weiner or Eddie Long
There is an acute difference between the Eddie Long case and the Anthony Weiner case. One key aspect of the case of Weiner is that it is a public official that works for the government. Eddie Long is a public official that works for God. Both the government and the church claims to be under the jurisdiction of God. I however am intrigued to see how Mr. Weiner constituents are claiming that he step down. I have seen that some of Eddie Long's constituents have backed him, ( see Creflo Dollar's comments.). I know there is a difference between the way a church and political office is officiated but it is interesting to see the contrast. Because of the damage one party member can do with their immoral actions many members of the party will seek resignation. Now in contrast to the church, will this happen to the same degree. The damage of a clergy member's immoral acts can have the same damage to that ministry and adversely represent that faith . I'm not sure if Eddie long did what he is alleged to have done in contrast to Weiners admission of guilt; but merely putting yourself in that situation could be presented as contrary to what you have been called to do. What do you feel. Should Eddie Long's constituents call him to step down like Weiner's did.
This blog is to merely present a point and ask a question.

Dear America
Dear America,
Libya to Darfur, Rwanda to the civil war Emacipating freedom has always been what were fighting for
I'm not sure what makes us fight these wars
The price of freedom is not ignored It resides in our earths core
I believe that this is what we long for The fruits of your countries labor
Far outweighs it's labor force
And this....
This is what they labor for
Dreams of equality is knocking on my generations door
But the door is locked from the outside You got to pay the price boy
The price is all you can give
So motivate your labor force
Sell what you can for freedom
But you might not get it back
Your customs and your artifacts where broken like the backs of blacks
Bombs over baghdad, bombs over Libya Missiles to Iraq
Bullets to your cranium
Neutralize your brain
Increase the insane in you
Recognize your enemies
Before you become one of them...

Lost Paridigm
Sometimes the river got to flow
Emotions run deep
And you can let it go or my friend you will sink
I embellish these thoughts
My mind relishes the fact that I’m lost
I’m falling back places in this life’s course
Swamp full of obstacles and I’m caught up in the moss
Hurdles full of aptitude, soldiers full of force
Wilderness is so obscure and the compass is the cross
Don’t chain me to your ideas
Don’t lock me in your house
No water runs out your spouts
Your wisdom goes through droughts
You drown in your emptiness
But swim in all your faults
Drink nothing but tears
Eat only our fears
Your brain is what’s smeared all across the runway
Deadly was your potential like you engaging in gun play
Bullets have a mission to leave you were your brain lay
Russian roulette with a full clip
100 proof in the cup you sip
Evil as Kenivil and daring in the same trip
Darkness revolving the seat were you sit
The devil captain of your ship
So you’ll soon be back in that emptiness
Trying to stay afloat of gasps of last hopes
Seeing the ocean floor through rose colored goggles
Your last breath is a gloat
With that death we find hope
Emotions run deep
And you can let it go or my friend you will sink
